On a classic cantilever sliding gate the drive motor sits in a separate ground box or in a housing next to the gate. That works — but it rarely looks good, eats up space, and makes service awkward. The "On-Board Motor" solution integrates the drive directly into the gate structure.
What changes
- No more ground boxes in the driveway — paving stays untouched
- No motor housing beside the gate — no cable trays, no visible switchgear
- Service access from above — convenient, no excavation
- Prerequisite for Solar Gates — the entire energy and drive unit travels with the gate
How it works
Motor and controller are housed in a sealed module built into the gate's upper frame. A toothed belt or chain transfers movement to the drive roller. The whole system is encapsulated, weatherproof, and rated for tens of thousands of cycles.
Where it makes sense
Worth specifying on any made-to-measure build — particularly for: design gates with a clean aesthetic, installations without an option to bury cables, solar gates, and heritage properties with sensitive ground surfaces.
